About Me
Hello! My name is Kyle and I'm a graduate of 3D animation from the Visual College of Art & Design in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Animation has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, from my earliest memories of sitting in front of an old tube television watching Astro Boy and Robotech to my current ravenous appetite for high quality films and television shows like Kung-Fu Panda, Inside Out, and The Book of Life. I'm more excited than ever as animated films are beginning to toe the line between family entertainment and full-fledged vehicles of high cinema. The possibilities are endless as the industry embraces older audiences!

Previous Work Experience
Soon after graduation I entered my very first animation job at Rainmaker Entertainment, a studio with deep and far-reaching history in the world of 3D animation. I entered the production of "Bob the Builder", starting out with simple shot fixes and adjustments before being assigned full shots from beginning to end. There I learned a new workflow and animation style, emphasizing weighted and believable movement, and learned directly from incredibly talented team members, supervisors, and directors. It was a welcoming, accommodating, and thrilling experience that I won't soon forget! Alas, contracts inevitably expire, and though I did earn a promotion and two contract extensions during my time there the work dried up.
Sooner after I joined the ranks of ICON Creative, a massive and eclectic studio with many opportunities for personal expression in my work. I stayed there for 5 whole years, working on television shows for clients like Netflix and Disney. It was here that I made the jump to senior animator. I currently work at WildBrain Ltd, another massive studio with a host of high-profile clients like Mattel and legacy shows. My current contribution is with the Ninjago series, a long-running show with a massive and supportive fan base. While working in the industry I've also taught animation courses in two colleges, my own college the Visual College of Art and Design and later La Salle Vancouver. As such, I have extensive experience in training junior level and below animators with effective workflows and the tools to learn on the job. |
